Application

HOW TO APPLY

Read over the game rules and background information so you know what's going on here. Then comment to the available characters page to hold a character and a played by. When you have finished writing your application, post it in the journal you wish to use for your character and comment to this post with a link.

Character adds will be done on Sundays. Or Mondays, depending on the mod's schedule. If you are asked to revise your application, you will have one week to make your edits or we will release your hold on the character. If you need more time, let us know, otherwise we'll assume you're no longer interested.

Hey Jill! So I like a lot of what you have here for Kingsley, but there are a few revisions I'd like to see you make with him.

~ His height needs to be knocked down to under 6'0". At 5'11" he'd still be considered tall by UK in 1979 standards (the average male height is 5'8") but we have a cap on characters 6'0" and over right now.

~ I like a lot of what you have in his personality, but I'd definitely like to see a little more balance between his strengths and weaknesses. He's reading a lot like 40-something second war Kingsley and I think at this age he should be a little less polished in his overall personality, so you can see how he turns out to be who he is in canon, but that he's still a 22 year old. Particularly with his upbringing, it feels like he shouldn't be nearly as well-rounded as he's coming across here. I think if you sacrifice one or two of his strengths and turn them into things that he may grow into over time as well as adding in a few more weaknesses, especially things that he personally struggles with - insecurities and the like.

~ Also on his history, from a logistical standpoint, if he was his Muggle grandmother's ward when she died, he would have gone to a Muggle orphanage and while he could have spent Christmas and Easter hols at the school, he would have had to return to the orphanage for summer, just as Tom Riddle did in canon.

~ There's a little contradiction in his history about whether he had to work hard for his grades or whether they came easily to him. I'd prefer to see him have to struggle for his marks and work hard to get what he needs to be a part of the Auror training programme.

~ And I really would like to see a little more of the impact of being an orphan in his history as well. It just seems like something he should have struggled with somewhat as a kid.

Thanks! <3

Welcome to Throwing Stones! (Just don't forget to take Prefect off her profile when IJ stops being dumb!)

There are a few things to do to get started here:
1) Accept your community invites.
2) Run the friends button.
3) Put a link to your application in your journal profile for easy reference.
4) Double check the contact info and hogwarts years to make sure all of your info is correct.
5) If you're playing an Order character, comment to the Order post with the teams you want your character to be on.
6) Add your character's font to the signature directory.
7) Add your character's residence to the location page.
8) If there are characters you want to see played (siblings, relationships, etc) comment to the character/plot request page.
9) Introduce yourself in [info]throwing_ooc
10) Take a look at the Plot Post and sign up for this month's plot.
11) If you're playing a Ministry character, please fill out this survey to get an ID card.

Hi Emily! One nitpicky edit, but you have Benjy as 5'10" and 160 pounds but described as a little short and a little heavy but that's really taller than average and on the lighter side. Aside from that, welcome to Throwing Stones!

Hey Emily! Alecto is looking really good, but there are just a couple of things I'd like to see you elaborate on in your application.

I'd like to see a little bit of an explanation for why she was sorted into Slytherin added into her personality. And also if you could add in a bit about her parents dying to her history, since both of them died at what looks like a relatively young age, I'd like to know how and a little bit of how that affected her/what her reaction was. Thanks! I look forward to seeing your edits! <3
