FAQ
FAQ How is this game AU? Basically everything up until November 15, 1978 is canon but when the game starts we're veering off into an alternate reality from that point forward. Some canon events will probably still happen but we wanted to create a sort of playground environment where we could explore new storylines for the first war without being constrained by a predetermined ending. What do you mean by playground? Have you ever been writing a scene and an idea comes to your mind that leaves you staring at your computer wondering, "Would that be too much?" We wanted to create a pretty relaxed game where we can feel free to bend the rules of good roleplaying a little more than we would in a serious game. Bend, but not break entirely. It's a fine line, but an important one. We're not talking about allowing god-modding or writing 18 year old Order members who can kick Voldemort's ass in a duel, just pushing boundaries a little. So is this going to be a crack game or involve time travel or some other weird AU thing? Nope. We may be a little silly and over the top from time to time, but we're still sticking to canon characterizations, there will be no people from the future (or the past) and it's a war game where Death Eaters are still Death Eaters, Order members are still Order members and we're just changing the events that are taking place around our characters. If this is supposed to be a relaxed environment, why do you have twenty million pages of background and info here? This sounds like it could all get really out of hand. How are you going to keep it from turning into a game with dazzling wizards running rampant? Mostly just by making sure we have a solid base of players who understand what the hell we're talking about when we say bending but not breaking the rules of good roleplaying. And if necessary, we'll step in and push you back in line if things do get out of hand. Does the game run in real time? Yes, with the exception of the year. November 15, 2009 is November 15, 1978 in game. Monday in real life is Monday in game. And the official time zone of the game is Pacific. What's with all the half-naked men on the PB page? Really? I mean if you're given the option between staring at ![]() which one would you choose? I thought so. And the animals? Why not? |
