Rules

GENERAL RULES
  1. Standard rules of role-playing apply here. Respect your fellow players. No drama, no god-modding, don't be a jackass.
  2. Clear actions and plots with other involved players. Major plots with game-wide implications must be cleared with the mods.
  3. Also give us a heads up if you're planning major life events for your character - character death (we welcome it! we just want to know it's coming), marriage, pregnancy, etc. We're not likely to say no, we just want to know what's going on.
  4. IC and OOC are two very different things and need to stay that way at all times. Your character doesn't know about the secret plot to destroy the world that's only been discussed behind wards they can't read. And remember that character actions and feelings do not equal player actions and feelings.
  5. In-character actions will have in-character consequences. If your known Death Eater walks right into the Ministry, they're probably going to be arrested. Or killed if an Auror's having a bad day, who knows. If you're not sure what the possible consequences for an action are, ask.
  6. All players should be mature enough to handle a game with dark themes and plots. We do not have a set age limit, but this probably won't be a game for the faint of heart.
  7. Your character is not omnipotent or invincible. Your fresh-out-of-Hogwarts character is probably not going to be able to single-handedly take on an Inner Circle Death Eater or fully trained Auror without being killed or at least seriously injured.
  8. This is an AU game but we still expect character portrayals to be in keeping with canon.
  9. If you have a problem with something going on in the game, whether it's another player or a problem you can't get your character out of, come talk to the mods - it's what we're here for.
ACTIVITY RULES
  1. Yes, it's a relaxed game, but we still have activity requirements to make sure you're still around and interested and not just sitting on a character. We'll put up an activity check post once a month and you'll need to comment with the required activity for that month.
  2. All characters must update at least twice a month in the form of a journal post or a log. You can substitute a post in another character's journal with at least twenty comments from your character for one of these requirements. So you can do a log and a comment thread, two journals, two logs, a journal and a comment thread, but not two comment threads.
  3. Werewolves (with the exception of Fenrir Greyback and Remus Lupin) are only required to have one log or journal entry a month.
  4. Media characters can substitute an article for one of their monthly posting requirements.
  5. If you need a hiatus, comment to the hiatus post.
  6. OOC commentary goes in [info]throwing_ooc. Logs go in [info]throwingstones and should be appropriately marked with Who, What, Where, When, Rating and Status. Owls also belong in [info]throwing_owls and should state who they are for in the LJ-cut. Media articles will be posted in [info]throwing_media. History and backstory logs go in [info]throwing_back.
  7. Dropped tags, forgotten threads and empty placeholders make your fellow players sad. We all do it from time to time but don't make a habit of it.
  8. NC-17 posts are allowed, but frequent, gratuitous smut logs will probably have someone suggesting that you might be better served with a subscription to porn.com. Anything NC-17 must be friends locked and posted with a warning.
  9. Warnings must also be provided for graphic violence and anything else that might squick your fellow players. No one wants to be sitting at their desk at work and click a link to find SURPRISE! HERE'S A PICTURE OF A SEVERED HEAD!
